I love expanding my pallet and playing around with different flavours because it’s really good to mix things up and build that gut microbiome. I made these protein balls last week and they were a simple complication of ingredients I had in my pantry. Always remember to try work with what you’ve got before you go out and purchase a bunch of new ingredients. Food waste is such a serious issue and it’s really important/fun to utilize what you’ve already got.
You will need a high speed blender or a food processor for this recipe. I’ll link some affordable options for you below to browse.
1/2 a cup of walnuts
5 dried figs
1 tablespoon of hemp hearts
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
2 tablespoons of chocolate grass-fed beef protein powder
2 tablespoons of almond butter
*SIDE NOTE: It is a priority for me to invest in products that actually support and nourish my body. While I’m against supplementation unless its actually necessary for your body and individual needs, I do love incorporating protein powder into my smoothies or bliss balls. I eat a paleo diet right now and I have found an incredible protein that tastes a m a z i n g, meets my nutrition requirements, has simple + whole ingredients and an awesome protein count!
*When buying almond butter ensure the only ingredient on the back of the jar says ALMONDS. There are SOOOOO many unnecessary fillers in a lot of foods these days, so be sure to look at the labels first.
Combine all ingredients in food processor
Ensure all ingredients stick together enough to roll into balls. If you need to add a little bit of water to get a better consistency/ texture thats totally fine.
Roll into small balls
Place/ keep in the fridge (they should last around 7 days, unless you eat them all first)
These are perfect for an afternoon snack, pre workout snack or a healthy alternative to sweet treats. Each ingredient in these protein balls serves a purpose in nourishing your body. They are a beautiful and equal mixture of protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates.
I hope you enjoy them!
