There is nothing more inspiring, motivating and empowering about creating your own personalized vision board. If you follow me on instagram you would know my Husband just made me an incredible studio space in one of our down stairs rooms in the basement. It’s a blank canvas for me to dream, create and make beautiful things. I’m so thankful and in love with it.
Given it’s a new season and a new month, I wanted to set good intentions and start to really cultivate my creative passions + dreams into action. One way I feel most inspired to do this, is by having a constant reminder of the things God has put on my heart to do. This isn’t a 5 year plan and there’s no expiration date on anything on this board, it’s a creative reminder to keep surrendering these things to God and allow Him to do the work He wants + needs to do in my life.
The things that are on this board range from wild God-sized dreams, daily aspirations, heart intentions to my dream car and bucket list moments I want to experience.
I thought it would be fun to explain what I did to create my vision board step by step with you.
This is the step that gets your creative soul racing. I had SO many ideas, colour schemes, words and pictures running wild through my head, so I decided to create a mood board on Pinterest to get visual picture before I bought my vision board to life.
Once I had a general idea of the things I wanted on my vision board, it was time to go out and purchase what I needed to actually create it.
A cork board
I gained some inspiration from a Youtuber by painting the boarder of my cork board pink to match the theme I was envisioning. All up this cost about $10.
The best step of this whole process! Painting, cutting and arranging the vision board exactly how you want it. This part took me about an hour and I’m so happy with the finished product.
This part is important. You want to be able to see your vision board every single day. This means being strategic with where you hang it. It might be in the home office, at you work, in your bedroom or in a home studio like me. This is a constant reminder of the beautiful dreams that have been placed on your heart and the visual drive to achieve great things.
I totally understand that not everyone loves to be creative but I 100% believe everyone can benefit from creating their very own vision board. I’m going to list off a few things on my vision board to get you dreaming and inspired to create your own.
“God, let your voice become the loudest one I hear and the one I’m most sensitive to” – This is the basis of my board. I am a lover of the Lord and proud of it. My greatest aspiration is to posture my heart to Him and Him alone. Nothing is possible without Him. I want His voice to be the one I run to.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” – Hippocrates. This has become almost like a mantra to me now. I whole heartedly believe in the words Hippocrates wrote. I try to nourish my body with a beautiful abundance of whole foods as a form of honouring God, self care and one of the many aspects of functional medicine.
I have a picture of my favourite wedding photo of Gideon and I up in the top left hand corner. To me this is a constant reminder to lean into God in our marriage, to continually honour and respect Gideon as my Husband and to be the best wife I can possibly be for him. He truly deserves the whole world and I consider myself so blessed that God has called me to love him for the rest of my days.
I have a picture of my whole family in the bottom right hand corner. Moving overseas and living away from them has been one of the most challenging things. I have the best family in the world and this photo is a reminder of how blessed I am to have these people in my life. Each persons brings so much joy + love into my world and each one of them inspire me and teach me something different on this beautiful journey of life. Family is everything.
Next to my family photo there is a photo of a plane. This represents having the financial means to freely travel to them without having to worry about money.
Up the top there is a photo my best friend took of my while I was doing a mini vinyasa flow. One day I would love to do my Christian 200 hour yoga teacher training to become a certified yoga teacher and share the love of God through this beautiful form of movement.
There is an announcement photo for adoption up there too. Very early on in our relationship, Gideon and I both talked about how we both feel SO ridiculously called to adopt one day. We know this is something God has placed on both of our hearts super strongly and when the time is right this is something we want to do together.
Each of these bible verses mean a lot to me and I hold them super close to my heart.
Ephesians 3:20 – God is able to do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine.
Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I won’t go into depth with every picture on the board but some other things I have included are:
Writing a book
Starting my own business
Becoming an integrative wellness coach
Studying at a specific school
Swimming with whales
Traveling with my Gideon
Owning a jeep
Living in a little country home with Gid and living off the land with chickens
Finishing my herbal studies
Embracing + cultivating genuine relationships
