Over the past few years I have really grown a huge love + passion for working out. I’ve done a lot of experimenting to find what works best for my body and I have finally found a variety of different kinds of movement that make me feel my absolute best.
Exercise has such a wide variety of health benefits. It helps to better your mental health, emotional health, physical health and I would go as far as to say your spiritual health too. It releases good endorphins, gives your body more energy and reduces stress! I truly believe everyone should be aiming to move their body for at least 30 minutes a day – even if it’s just to give you some mental clarity.
My workout routine isn’t completely set in stone each week. I am a big believer in honouring my body and listening to it’s signals. I try my best to use the cycle syncing method in all aspects of my life, especially when it comes to exercising. Depending on where I am at in my cycle is based on what type of exercise I do.
With that being said, let me share some of my favourite forms of movement with you!

While most people say cardio sucks and that it’s super boring, I try my very best to go for at least a 30 minute walk everyday. I love to be outdoors so I usually walk around a park or along a pretty trail close by. As the cooler months are approaching, I’m taking advantage of my gym membership and doing my cardio there after my shift ends. I walk because it genuinely makes me feel good, it’s a time where I am able to embrace God’s creation, clear my mind and just be.
In the past few months I have also started to incorporate runs into my cardio routine. I aim for 2 times a week and I will swap this in instead of a walk. I’m not trying or training to be a professional, I just love to switch things up for my body and challenge it in different ways.

Weight training has become a huge part of my training this year. Normally Gideon and I will go to the gym after he finishes work and do a weight session. We do a 4 day split, it looks like this:
Monday – Arms + abs
Tuesday – Chest + abs
Wednesday – Legs
Thursday – Shoulders + back
We opt for heavier weights and lower reps. This is just what works best for us right now.

Yoga is one of my most favourite ways to move my body. You can make your practice or flow as hard or as gentle as you desire. It’s also really wonderful to move + target those muscles that don’t always get as much attention.
I take time once or twice a week to practice. I normally opt for a vinyasa flow and then play around with different poses for an extended period of time to challenge my body + mind.
Yoga is a really sacred time for me. When I’m on my mat I can relax, breathe, posture myself and come inward with my thoughts. I have been inviting God into my practice recently and I’ve seen Him invade my heart in such wonderful ways. I have a blog post in the works on this whole topic, so stay tuned for that!

When I’m not doing my split for weight sessions I normally feel like doing a hiit session. Most of the time this is done with resistance bands and my own body weight. It’s nice to switch things up and go at a faster pace. I normally opt for a hiit session in the middle of my cycle (ovulation) because this is when I feel my body has the most sustained energy, so I take full advantage of it.

Other forms of movement for me can include bike riding, hiking or at home barre workouts.
Lately, I’ve really tried to be intentional with my why behind working out. It’s honestly very easy for me to slip into working out for the wrong reasons but I try my best to posture my heart to God’s and focus on moving my body because I want to care for and honor what He has given me.
Every body is beautiful. Learn to tap in and nurture yourself, rather than forcing yourself to meet an unrealistic standard of “perfection”, because let me tell you precious soul, it just doesn’t exist. You were n e v e r made to fit into a perfectly curated mold and your body wasn’t meant to be classified as a trend. You are made for so much more and made by someone who sees you for you, knows the depths of your heart and loves you beyond anything you could possibly imagine.
Next time you exercise, be thankful for legs that can walk, for arms that can lift weights, for a core that keeps your being strong and for the opportunity to move + honour your body the way that feels best for you. Embrace all that you are, exactly where you are at right now and learn to love yourself and move that beautiful body of yours in freedom.
I hope you are feeling inspired lovely, now go flourish!
